Insadong 인사동 is a blend of modern and traditional shops in the Jongno-gu district of Seoul. Home to Korean traditional arts and antiques, the main street, Insadong-gil, cuts through the centre, with shops flanking it on both sides. Many tourists can be found on this street, where plenty of galleries, cafes and traditional gift shops are located. Alleys that branch out from the main street call out to the curious explorer who hopes to unravel just about something more.
If you enter Insadong from the side of Samcheongdong, you’ll find Ssamziegil 쌈지길 on your left. It is a good place to look for handicrafts. With a compound demarcated by a spiral-like stairway, you’ll be treated to a view of the neighbourhood once you reach the top deck.
We were thrilled to visit a Trickeye Museum at Ssamziegil. Even though we ended up at 2 other Trickeye museums during our trip, the one at Insadong remains my favourite of the three. If you are interested in visiting one, the main branch can be found in Seogyo Plaza (Seogyo-dong).
